A few Easter Cake Wrecks of my own
If I couldn’t laugh at myself I would be in trouble.
I gave myself the task of baking a few Easter treats on Sunday. Hot cross buns & some milk chocolate brownies decorated with lovely pastel sugared almonds. Neither were lovely, oh how I have fallen from grace.
My hot cross buns alas & woe is me! I made the error of pouring boiling milk & butter right onto my yeast, hence they did not rise. Mr Bake & Bloom was optimistic however & insisted I continue baking them anyway. But all love was lost & they were just about the ugliest most misshapen hot cross buns I have ever seen.
My brownies, oh lord, my brownies. Well to be honest, a mouthful of sugared almonds is not the most appealing topping for a brownie. Also I purchased compound chocolate in error, something I would not wish on my worst enemy, ew…compound chocolate.
I have made uglier mistake before but 2 in one day was pretty disappointing I must say.
So what do you do when you have a batch of misshapen ugly hot cross buns that slightly resemble over sized testicles & some wet, grainy & strangely crunchy topped brownies?
You quickly type http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/ into your web browser & laugh the hurt away. If you haven’t looked at cakewrecks yet you’re missing out. It is basically the webs largest collection of professional baking fails, if you ever have a rubber sponge cake or a batch of wonky sugar cookies it is bound to make you feel better.
I will regroup & be back with something worthy of blogging about later this week.

I am not even sure what compound chocolate is?! But I sure have had my share of baking fails!
it’s the cheap cooking chocolate thats not actually even real chocolate (vegatable oil with cocoa solids) usually labeled “choc buttons”
